Safe Digital Banking Practices

Never share your account details such as account number, login ID,
password, PIN, UPI-PIN, OTP, ATM/ Debit card/credit card details
with anyone, not even with bank officials, however genuine they
might sound.

Any phone call/email threatening the blocking of your account on the
pretext of non-updation of KYC and suggestion to click link for
updating the same is a common modus operandi of fraudsters. Do not
respond to offers for getting KYC updated/expedited.

Do not download any unknown app on your phone/device. The app may
access your confidential data secretly.

Transactions involving receipt of money do not require scanning
barcodes / QR codes or entering MPIN. Thus, exercise caution if
asked to do so.

Always access the official website of bank /NBFC/e-wallet provider
for contact details. Contact numbers on internet search engines may
be fraudulent.

Check URLs and domain names received in emails/SMSs for spelling
errors. Use only verified, secured, and trusted websites/apps for
online banking, that is, websites starting with https.

If you receive an OTP for debiting your account for a transaction
not initiated by you, inform your bank/ e-wallet provider
immediately.

Do not share the password of your email linked to your bank/e-wallet
account. Do not have common passwords for e-commerce/social media
sites and your bank account.

Do not set your email password as the word password. The password
used for accessing your email should be unique and used only for
email access.

Do not be misled by advices intimating deposit of money on your
behalf with RBI for foreign remittances, commission, or lottery
wins.

Regularly check your email and phone messages for alerts from your
financial service provider. Report any unauthorized transaction
immediately.

Secure your cards and set daily limit for transactions. You may also
set limits and activate/deactivate for domestic/international use.
ATM Do's

Keep an eye on suspicious movements of people around ATMs/CDMs. Beware of strangers trying to engage you in any suspicious transactions | |
Change Your PIN Immediately After Receiving The PIN Mailer And Card. | |
Verify Account Statements Regularly And Monitor Your Accounts. Notify The Branch In Case Of Any Doubtful Transactions. |
ATM Don'ts
Do not keep your card and PIN together | |
Don't give information regarding your ATM card or PIN Financial Position over the telephone | |
Do not write your PIN on the reverse side of the card | |
Do not dispose statements or charge slips without Loan Scheme destroying them first. | |
Never lend your Debit card to anyone. | |
Never use a PIN that could be easily guessed. E.g. your birthday or telephone number. | |
Do Not Use Helmets, Cap Etc. While Entering The ATM Room. | |
Never enter your PIN in any ATM that does not seem to be genuine or seems modified/has a suspicious device attached/operating in a suspicious manner. Immediately inform the Bank if you find any such suspicious activity. | |
Don't use unattended (without Security Guards) ATMs Centres for your Safety. |
Cyber Do's
1 | Password A password should have a minimum of 10 characters using uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special Branch Offices characters such as #, to foil password-cracking software. Avoid common words, and never disclose a password. | |
2 | Password Use different passwords for different accounts | |
3 | Password Change your password every thirty days. | |
4 | Data Perform regular backups of important data. | |
5 | Security Create a password for your files in order to protect file sharing activities. | |
6 | Security Never click on a link from an untrusted source. | |
7 | Security Close windows containing pop-up ads or unexpected warnings by clicking on the "X" button in the upper most right hand corner. | |
8 | Security Use antivirus software, and update it regularly to recognize the latest threats. | |
9 | Security Regularly update your operating system, Web browser, and other major software. | |
10 | Security Set Windows or Mac updates to auto-download. | |
11 | Security Save attachments to disk before opening them. | |
12 | Data Destroy information properly when it is no longer needed (ATM Slip/Postmaster Mail/Account Statement). |
Cyber Don'ts
1 | Password Never write down your password or create common passwords such as your name, social security, UNI, etc. | |
2 | Password Never give out your password to anyone, whether you know them or not. | |
3 | Password Never select the "Remember My Password" option. | |
4 | Security Never purchase anything promoted in a spam message. | |
5 | Security Please refrain from opening an e-mail attachment, even from someone you know well, unless you were expecting it. | |
6 | Security Do not leave your laptop/PC unattended, even for a few minutes. | |
7 | Security Never reply to e-mail(s) or phone calls requesting financial or personal information. | |
8 | Security Avoid opening e-mail(s) or e-mail attachments from an unknown Banking Bulletin Tenders sender. | |
9 | Security Under no circumstances should you install or use pirated copies of software. | |
10 | Security Do not install P2P file sharing programs which can illegally download copyrighted material. | |
11 | Security Never set your e-mail program to "auto-open" attachments. | |
12 | Data Don't leave printouts or portable media containing private information on your desk. | |
13 | Data Don't post any private or sensitive information on public sites, including social media sites. |
